I'm not that familiar with these things, but I've got a feeling that these lattice-style pastries might belong in the domain of desserts... Still, I decided to have a go at it, with this savory pie. It is essentially a quiche: eggs. With a few other things of course — some grated cheddar cheese, chopped scallions, even some finely diced lettuce (yeah, lettuce — quiches regularly feature spinach, so why not?), and various other things I came across.

I always try to read books my students recommend to me. Something about them knowing that I value their literary opinions really helps us bond and encourages them to trust me. I just finished Sarah Dessen's Just Listen. It was a good little chunk of adolescent lit, and I quite enjoyed reading it.
The passage that stuck out to me the most:

Well this is an extremely artistic and clever picture — I am a very creative and artistic kind of a a guy. And clever. But not clever enough to actually operate this camera. Gah. Heh, it does look kinda good, though...
Salmon fillets, skinned and diced, dipped in seasoned flour, egg and finally seasoned panko bread crumbs. I used an Indian style curry seasoning. 'Twas pretty damn tasty, I must say.
So now that my daily posting is done I have decided that I should still post on some kind of schedule. My original plan was Monday, Wednesday, Friday and sometimes the first idea is the best so we're going with that.
The only problem with this plan is that this week I have been sicker than I can ever remember being and I haven't been knitting at all since my last post. Well, that's not true, I knit a few rows just now before I started this post. My first sleeve needs about three more inches. I might try to finish that tonight. I'm trying to decide if I push through and try to finish this thing soon or if I'm going to try to do some gift knitting this holiday. I'm leaning towards no holiday knitting this year, unfortunately.
Is that exciting? Aren't you glad I'm posting on a regular basis? I promise the next one will be better.

It's a two-way tie between Greensleeves and Carol of the Bells. But the only thing I won't tolerate is the Andy Williams Christmas album. I know it's classic, but I worked too many years in retail listening to that CD over and over again for six weeks straight to ever want to hear it again.
